Worldwide Dive and Sail Introduces The Junk

Worldwide Dive and Sail, owners of the Siren Fleet and Master Liveaboards, are now also the proud new owners of The Junk.

S/Y June Hong Chian Lee — or The Junk — is a restored teak wood Chinese merchant sailing vessel that offers a unique liveaboard diving experience in Thailand. With an experienced crew and great food on board, The Junk is the most charming and distinctive vessel in Thailand, so distinctive that it has been used in several famous movies.

"Thailand is a great destination for all kinds of divers, and it will be a pleasure to introduce our guests to this location on board such a charming and historic boat," said Mark Shandur, WWDAS general manager.

The Junk is a 33-meter (108-foot) sailing boat with three masts that can take up to 18 divers in six air-conditioned cabins, offering a choice of double cabins, triple cabins and quads, each with its own private bathroom with hot shower. The Junk now joins Siren Fleet and Master Liveaboards under the WWDAS umbrella, with each brand presenting different features, services and prices.

After recent renovations, The Junk has started operations with six-night trips around the Similan and Surin islands. The Marine National Parks of the Similan Islands and the extensive reefs in the Surin Islands are among the best diving in Thailand, with more than 200 species of hard corals spread between walls and coral gardens where turtles, Napoleons, bumphead parrotfish, barracudas, manta rays and all kinds of tropical fish patrol. A visit to one of the best dive sites in the world, Richelieu Rock, offers the chance to see majestic whale sharks.
